Promoting public understanding
of electoral democracy
McDougall Trust invites expressions of interest from individuals or teams wishing to take over the editorship of Representation from 1 January 2017 following the successful nine years under the editorship of Professor Andrew Russell and Dr Steve de Wijze (University of Manchester), with Dr Stephen Elstub (Newcastle University) as associate editor and Dr Stephen Hood (University of Manchester) as editorial assistant.
Representation is a successful, peer reviewed, quarterly journal which covers the field of representative democracy. Representation explores the interface between democratic practice and theory, and has a general interest in all matters relating to the theme of representative democracy. For example, theoretical discussion could make a significant contribution to current practices in topics such as the democratic deficit, representation for women and minorities, modernising elections, voter education and democratic institutions at transnational, or global, level. Representation offers a place for debates and scholarship, both empirical and normative, on democratic practices around the world.
